Our breeding program is based on three generations of history and knowledge, beginning with the legacy of Carlos' grandfather, Alfonso Tobon. Sr. Tobon was the breeder of three Colombian National Champion stallions, all by the same mare: La Ligia II. Most notable of these sons was Contrapunto by the sire Pistolero.
When we initiated our breeding program, our desire was to incorporate the use of strong producing mares with bloodlines that traced back to this patrimony, but who also had phenotype and movements of the type we felt most satisfied our preference. We match these mares with stallions of outstanding pedigree who compliment the phenotype and movements of our mares. We agreed that bloodlines outside of our patrimony would be used if the horses were of our preferred type: powerful and secure hocks producing defined rear drive; smooth, quiet croup; symmetrical and fluid quick gait; long neck with elegant head carriage; willingness.
We believe that these characteristics produce a horse that drives from the hind, is naturally balanced, has the smoothest ride and is enjoyable for the rider to work with. In addition, these characteristics produce a horse that is phenotypically correct with an elegant picture - a horse that takes your breath away.
Our goal is to produce a stallion son who exceeds our ideal type and cross him back into the mare band to solidify the traits of the horses with our Trademarked suffix "del Eden". We believe we were blessed to have already bred this individual and look forward to the future when we can continue the path toward this vision.
